1856 a printed entire wrapper addressed to Aberdeen bearing an 1855 1d red-brown Perf 16 issue being tied by the Blackburn Maltese cross in black ink and bearing on reverse the undated circular local mark in blue black ink together with an Aberdeen arrival datestamp for MR 29 1856. This is a most unusual late use of the Maltese cross handstamp, which were officially withdrawn in May 1844 some twelve years after the use of this cover.
